Who We Are 

Christian Home Educators Co-op (CHEC) is an organization comprised of Christian homeschooling families, having the intent and purpose of promoting Christian homeschooling and providing support, resources, activities, and Christian fellowship to its members.  CHEC is open to Christian families who are homeschooling at least one child K4* or older effective September of said school year.  Membership is restricted to families who have been excused from compulsory education, as described in the Ohio Administrative Code 3301-34 or 3301-35-08, and have filed said form or forms as required (applicable for children ages 6-18)*K4 child must be an active participant in the Academy/Co-op. 

Children enrolled in a public school, private school, public school operating through the home, “cyber school”, publicly funded e-school (such as but not limited to, E-COT, OHDELA, Ohio Virtual Academy, or Treeca), charter school, virtual academy, or any other publicly-funded community school, are participating in compulsory education as clarified in the Ohio Revised Code (ORC) 3314.041.  Therefore, membership to CHEC will not be granted. 

CHEC Mission Statement

The purpose of Christian Home Educators Co-op is to support and promote home education by Christian parents in the Northeast Ohio area.  We do this by adhering to the following statement: 

We desire to honor the Lord Jesus Christ in all that we do.

We desire to assist Christian home educators in our area by providing support, fellowship, and communication.

We desire to assist in providing education, training, and nurturing for our children according to Biblical doctrine.

We desire to provide information, ideas, and activities to our members and members of other groups.

We endeavor to encourage one-another in the pursuit of Godly character, wisdom, and knowledge.

We endeavor to promote the rights of Christian homeschoolers.

 

All CHEC members must agree with our group’s mission statement.

 

CHEC Policies & Membership Requirements

 

CHEC membership requires a good-faith pledge by the adult family members to adhere to the following standards:

  1. They agree to comply with Ohio state regulations concerning private home education as stated above.
  2. They understand and agree that CHEC is a volunteer organization and the success of the group depends on the participation of parents, such as planning, executing, set-up, and clean up of activities.
  3. Courtesy to members organizing activities is expected by all members by recognizing deadlines, age/grade limits, and financial arrangements.
  4. Members and their children agree to conduct themselves according to guidelines in scripture (“Love the Lord your God…and your neighbor as yourself”), motivated by the desire to honor Christ in all things.  Therefore, integrity, honesty, and self-discipline are expected at all times, setting a good example and encouraging believers and non-believers.
  5. CHEC does not carry any insurance for you or your children.  Parents are expected to carry their own insurance.  Parents are expected to be responsible for their children at all CHEC functions and activities.  Parents will not hold CHEC and/or its members liable in the event of injury to any family member.

 

  1. Scholarships for membership to CHEC are made available based on financial need.  Request should be made upon completion of the membership application.
  2. CHEC, being a private organization, reserves the right to limit, refuse, or terminate membership without explanation.
  3. Information provided in the membership directory is confidential and is not to be given out, sold, or distributed in any way to anyone who is not a member of CHEC.  The information is not to be used for soliciting business.  A violation of policy is cause for termination of CHEC Membership. 
  4. Policies are subject to change, as the leadership deems necessary.
  5. Members agree with and have signed the CHEC Statement of Faith.

 

All CHEC members must agree with our group’s policies and requirements.
